Social Media Threat Triggers OHS Lockdown Friday Morning

School officials said they worked with Ossining police.

OSSINING, NY — An isolated message on social media led to a lockdown at Ossining High School Friday morning. School officials worked collaboratively with police, said Superintendent Ray Sanchez.

"We felt it was appropriate to go with a lockdown," Sanchez told Patch, explaining that a lockdown, where students and teachers stay in classrooms, is more stringent than a lockout, where a school's entrances are locked to outsiders.

The lockdown was lifted but students were kept in classrooms for a short time while police investigated.
