Try On American Gothic at Ossining Farmers Market
SAT 6/6: Ossining Farmers Market offers strawberries, herb starter plants, & more. Sisters Wicked Good Soap will be rotating day vendor.

Are you a real farmer or do you aspire to be one? On Saturday, June 6th, from 9:30 am to 12 noon, everyone can get into the act at the Ossining Farmers Market!
Inspired by Grant Wood’s iconic American Gothic painting, Miriam Haas has repainted this 20th Century masterpiece without the stern looking personalities we all know. Now you can stand in for them and pretend to be the “salt of the earth.” Pictured here (many years ago) are Miriam and Bob Rosenbloom, a regular market shopper. We provide you with clothes to put on so you can pretend to be the farmer or his wife. Then walk into American Gothic, grab the pitch fork, and have your picture taken. Prints will be available at a later date upon request.
This event is in conjunction with the Ossining Arts Council “Art Out” event where artists are encouraged to paint outdoors on June 6th. We invite artists to paint or draw the people in costume.

In addition to American Gothic, the market will host French-inspired music by Les Tappan Zigues from 10 am to noon.
Every Saturday, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, the Ossining Farmers Market brings together farmers and food makers who sell local fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, pasture-raised meats, poultry, and eggs, breads and baked goods, pickles, cheese, and much more. Find the weekly gathering at the corner of Spring and Main Streets in downtown Ossining. Thank you for supporting local farmers and food makers at the market!
