Vote NO to Local Laws 4, 5 & 6. Write In Kim L. Jeffrey...

On Election Day VOTE NO to Project Forward- Local Laws 4, 5 & 6. Write in KIM L. JEFFREY for Town of Ossining Supervisor.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 5th is Election Day and something i can not stay quiet about is what is going on in Town of Ossining (which the Village is within)...

You may not have heard about Project Forward. It is a Town of Ossining initiative to take away your right to elect positions. Let’s say that again. Take away your right to vote. What positions: Town Receiver of Taxes, Town Clerk, Superintendent of Highway. What they call it: modernizing the Town.

Why: to consolidate power and to consolidate the Town of Ossining and the Village. No, they haven’t asked us if we want to consolidate, they are doing it one small step at a time.

Will it save money? No, making these positions appointed will make them civil service, which will make it more expensive then the elected positions. They also don’t know if they will actually appoint a Highway super, they may instead take a guy off the road to fill in. Why is it bad besides taking away our ability to vote, they aren’t policy makers. Because these positions should be independent of the Town Supervisor and the Board.

In recent past they have tried to make the people in these positions submit to their will but they answer to us, the constituents, the residents.

What else? They want the Receiver of Taxes and Town Clerk offices to merge. What’s the problem: these are very different offices with different skill sets who should be separate and independent, and this will not cause efficiency and is not modernizing.

This is power and steps to consolidate without your say so. The NYSDOS grant awarded to the Town was supposed to educate and inform you the public on this project and was clearly not utilized effectively- as most people are not aware or understand this project or campaign.

The process matters, intentions matter and you should make that known by voting NO to local laws 4, 5 & 6 and join the Write-In movement to elect Kim L. Jeffrey for Ossining Town Supervisor.
