Warm For A Day: Hudson Valley's Weekend Weather
Here's why you shouldn't get too excited and buy plants.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It's going to be so warm on Saturday you just must get outside and do something. By Sunday, it'll be chillier again, and windier, and rainier.
"Saturday still looks like a pure winner… with highs surging well into the 60s and possibly cracking 70° in some places if we get enough sunshine in the afternoon," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.
If the clouds stay away Saturday, you may be tempted to plant flowers and vegetables. Don't do it!

You may see annuals outside during the day at the local supermarket. They're pretty, right? But they go inside or get covered at night. Parts of our region had frost on the ground Thursday morning, and we could be hit by frost until Mothers Day.
"The air may be warm this weekend but the soil is still cold. Plants like warm feet," said Kathy Cuck, owner of Whispering Pine Garden Center on Route 6 in Somers.

"We suggest not to plant until after May 15," Cuck said, pointing out that this region is Zone 5 and frost is always a possibility through April.
If you're still impatient to do more than turning over the dirt and getting early weeds out of your garden, there is a flower for you. "You can plant pansies now - they'll take a frost," she said.
Anyway, we return to March weather on Sunday. Highs will barely reach 60 degrees.
"A storm emerging from the Plains will fragment into a couple of parts with one portion to race along through the Midwest Friday night and the second piece to move through the Midwest and Northeast later Saturday to early Sunday," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.
