When Nor'Easter Will Depart The Hudson Valley
Parkways are snow-covered but open in southern Westchester, which is expected to bear the brunt of the storm.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The big nor'easter blowing snow across the Hudson Valley as it brings blizzard conditions to eastern New England is due to move out of our region Saturday afternoon.
Winter storm warnings are in effect until 7 p.m. for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester. Dutchess County has a winter weather advisory in effect until midnight.
"A look at the simulated radar shows the back edge of snow coming into the western parts of our region by around noon, the back edge then progresses east and clears the region between 3-4PM," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Few power outages were reported overnight, but utility companies said they had emergency repair crews ready if the high gusty winds cause damage. O&R reminded people:
- Portable generators pose a serious hazard if used improperly. They should be used and installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. A wrong connection could feed electricity back through the lines and endanger our repair crews. Never plug a generator into a wall unit, use it indoors or set it up outdoors near open home windows or air-handling vents.
- Have emergency equipment within reach - portable radio, flashlights, spare batteries, first aid kit, cell phone and important medications.
- Remember: if the base station of your cordless phone plugs into the wall, your phone will be unusable during a power outage.
Meanwhile, Westchester County Police reported the parkways snow-covered but open, with four disabled vehicles since midnight.
