'World War Z'

Have tried to post blogs so will do 'mark at the movies'  here out of a general frustration with the 'patch'

Could I have been the only person who thought that the Z in the title meant the last 'war' like the final letter in the alphabet...as a take off on world war I, the war to end all wars...but suprise to no one but me...the Z  was for 'Zombies'!!!  Now you could say how implausable...a pandemic of infected people who eat human flesh....(don't worry, am not giving away the movie!) But then we have had the Ebola virus...a flesh eating virus so how far is a stretch is is for a flesh eating virus active in humans who literally eat fllesh...now I come from a time when 'Night of the Living Dead' was the first low budget run away hit...kind of like the 'Blair Witch' film of the 60's and 70's.  but that was like comparing a hot dog to steak...or a crumb to a loaf of bread.  Here is another of the 'end of the world' genre films so in vogue ala 'Independence Day' continued with 'This is The End' another of my disappearing blogs on 'The Patch'.   Only this time the lead role is Brad Pitt!!!   He is an Icon now much as Schwartzneger was in the Terminator films or Harrison Ford in the Indian Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark were...only this time am I the only one who senses always the invisible presence of...dare I say that screen star personal bigger than the screen...Angela Jolie...so that even tho his wife in the film is not 'Angela' I kept thinking he was playing to Angela and their kids. OK, so I said I was not going to give it away...but I must warn you that in a world where 'world order' has broken down there is only one hope for an almost annihilated humanity and that is in 'the UN' yes the United Nations as perhaps it should be...trying to save the world for humanity rather than the gathering place of vested national interests...kind of like UNICEF for our survival...but all the military of the world...all the great armies and weapons alone cannot do it...what is needed is a man like superman...a humble retired specal forces UN guy...who just wants to be left alone to live his life with his family....but like Moses he is called by the UN and asked to go on a mission...on which the fate of human existence depends.  Now the film, the script, the acting, the effects are great...on a grand scale...and trust me old world prejudices come into the picture and even the Israeli's who briefly seem invincible and in this film are giving shelter to all the Arabs who can make it to Jerusalem...they to cannot resist 'the Zombies'...All the Science, all the Military, all the Leaders cannot stop the "invasion of the body snatchers' oops, wrong film, 'the Zombies from World War Z!!!only the UberMench...the guy who sells perfume on tv with words of poetry and romance (you need a lotta money even if you are the Pitt-Jolie conglomerate...so this
kind of ordinary guy is the savior of humanity and earth...(don't worry I won't give it away...but think would you be willing to sacrifice your life...or your right arm to stop the virus...ok, I gave something away...but not the main plot....It's a popcorn movie...powerful and fast moving and able to shut up the loudest restless teen agers it pulls in on a hot night to the cool darkness of the Greenburgh Multiplex and any other theatre it is playing...so it doesn't have the horriific over the top humor of This is the 
End...but it has great effects...fast action...and dare I say it...a difficult 'Happy End/Begining' kind of like 'Independence Day'! And I kid you not, some of the teenagers who were annoying everyone before the film started applauded at the end...now if Brad  Pitt could just deal with unemployment, terrorism, but then he'd have to fly faster than a speeding bullet and leap buildings in a bound...oh wait...that's Man of Steel' another Superman!   With most movies in this weather I'd say, check your mind at the door...and buy an extra big bag of popcorn...unless you have the hidden orange in your pocket you forgot to leave in the car!
