Oyster Bay Resident Appointed to Executive Director of The Family Center For Autism

Congratulations to Susan Rassekh!

GARDEN CITY , NY - Oyster Bay resident Susan Rassekh was recently appointed executive director of The Family Center For Autism based in Garden City.

The non-profit, which launched in 2013, provides services to about 100 autistic people and enrollment continues to increase.

“Autism has evolved into a national crisis (a ratio as high as one in fifty children born) which often spoils familial foundations,” Rassekh said. “Family members confront complex challenges that become emotional, financial, and social when a child is diagnosed with autism.”

The center offers over sixty programs for children and adults with autism and the families who care for them.

“In the past two years, FCA has already made a difference and an improvement in the lives of a significant number of people with autism,” she said “I am motivated when I can witness progress and accomplishment with the people I help.”

Since 1990, Rassekh has worked in various managerial and leadership positions within the YMCA and its Long Island Chapters. Most recently, she was executive director at the YMCA at Glen Cove.

She earned a B.A. in English Language Arts from Hunter College. And she holds a variety of professional certifications.
