Bicyclist Killed In Suffolk Hit-And-Run Crash: Police
The 30-year-old was found by a passing motorist in the roadway early Sunday.
EAST PATCHOGUE, NY - A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in East Patchogue early Sunday, according to Suffolk Police.
Officers responded to Montauk Highway, 1000 feet west of Gazzola Drive, after a passing motorist called 911 to report a body in the roadway at 4:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, the officers determined the man had been struck by a vehicle.

Detectives also determined the bicyclist, identified as 30-year-old Alexis Velasquez, was traveling eastbound when he was stuck by an eastbound vehicle that fled the scene.
Velasquez, of Bellport, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Detectives believe the vehicle that struck Velasquez is a silver or gray Nissan SUV with front-end damage and fled eastbound on Montauk Highway.
