Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri said that the company will hopefully get started within the next three to four weeks.
βThe (Patchogue-Medford) Library will be picking up a portion of that $188,000,β Pontieri said. The exact amount is to be determined.
He said the Village will be receiving $250,000 from Tritec Real Estate Company as part of their estimate for the cost of building the foundation and moving the library onto it. The company is obligated to help finance the move of the library from its former Lake Street location to its new location as part of building the New Village development at the Main Street and North Ocean Avenue area. Pontieri said that the company has already paid well over $200,000 toward the move so far.
Pontieri said that around $60,000 will be used to move the library from its temporary location on the Sixth District Court property onto the foundation to be built on the same property. Pontieri said there have also been costs for keeping up the temporary location the building has been sitting on since last August.
The board of trustees unanimously approved the bid.
As previously reported, Patchogue-Medford Library was awarded the Carnegie Library in August 2012 who intends to use the building for their Young Adult section. The Carnegie Library is currently on a temporary structure on the Sixth District Court property, and the permanent location is reported to have the library face Main Street with the front even with the courthouse. Additionally, Patchogue-Medford Library has been reportedly interested in having a full basement built under the library to preserve its structural integrity, and will pay costs that are excess of Tritec's obligations for that addition.
