Catholic Education Lecture At SJC Thursday

The Department ofΒ HistoryΒ at St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce its fourth annual lecture, β€œParagons of Catholic Education in the 16th Century” on Thursday,Β April 11Β at 12:40 p.m. in the D’Ecclesiis Auditorium on the Long Island Campus.

"TheΒ historyΒ department at SJC strives to enrich the students' educational experience not only in the classroom, but through exposure to world-class experts in various fields of study,” said James Blakeley, Ph.D., associate professor ofΒ historyΒ on the Long Island Campus. β€œThe annual lecture is especially important to the department because the public is encouraged to attend and see the outstanding programs that we offer."

β€œParagons of Catholic Education in the 16th Century” will be presented by Susan C. Karant-Nunn, Ph.D., regents’ professor ofΒ historyΒ at the University of Arizona. Dr. Karant-Nunn is an expert on the Reformations of the 16th century in Europe and was awarded the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 2003 for religion. She is the author of numerous books, including her most recent,Β The Reformation of Feeling: Shaping the Religious Emotions in Early Modern Germany.
