Company Pumps Brakes On Bike-Share Program Due To Coronavirus
The bike-share program was supposed to return in April but the operator had to pull the plug due to the financial impact of the pandemic.
PATCHOGUE, NY — A few months after coming to Patchogue the operator of Bethpage Ride was forced to pumped the brakes on the bike-share program amid the coronavirus crisis. Due to the financial impacts of the pandemic, the company, Zagster Inc., announced it is unable to continue providing the program in Suffolk County.
In addition to Patchogue, Zagster provides bicycles to Babylon and Hampton Bays.
Patchogue Village trustee Joseph Keyes told Newsday that the program could possibly return in the future but that "some steps would have to be taken for people to feel comfortable."
