PATCHOGUE, NY — A Patchogue woman was arrested after allegedly leaving the scene of a car crash while driving drunk with two children in the car in Shirley on Wednesday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police. Wirshup then fled the scene in the car, police said. A short time later, an officer saw Wirshup’s car near Revilo Avenue, and Victory Avenue, at 3:05 p.m., police said. When the officer approached the car, she saw the two children, ages three and seventeen months, in the back seat.
Wirshup was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15-years-old or younger under Leandra’s Law, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, police said.
