PATCHOGUE, NY – The Village of Patchogue officially signed a grant from Suffolk County for a proposed new parking facility in the downtown area. Village officials announced last week plans to alleviate the increasingly full parking lots near its growing Main Street with a brand new facility.
On Friday, Deputy Presiding Officer Rob Calarco, who has been working with the Village of Patchogue on the proposed garage, signed legislation for the $625,000 grant alongside Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone, Mayor Paul Pontieri, and Patchogue Village officials.
The proposed two-story municipal parking garage that will create up to 348 parking spaces.

"I am proud of the continued partnership between Suffolk County and Patchogue village. Together we are helping to make Patchogue one of the most vibrant downtown's on Long Island," Calarco said.
The total cost of the project is expected to be more than $8.5 million dollars and will be designed to be expandable in the future. Last year, the Village of Patchogue applied for and received an Empire State Development Grant for $1 million dollars.

While the exact location of the project has not been finalized however, Calarco has facilitated talks between the Village and Suffolk County to site the garage on a portion of the property of the Sixth District Court.
The Court’s current parking lot features 160 spaces and easy access to Main Street as well as a heavily utilized Suffolk County Bus Stop. The initial build-out of the garage would create a ground level with 181 parking spaces and one additional tier of parking with 167. The 348 spaces would more than double the number of spaces available at the current lot.
In addition, the garage would also be expandable by two additional tiers in the future. County and Village officials are hoping to have an agreement reached in the next few months to transfer the property.
