The Community Based Services Charity Golf Event a Hole in One

Community Based Services (CBS), a non-profit that enriches the lives of people with autism and other disabilities, hosted a charity golf event on Monday, October 24, at Hollow Brook Golf Club. The event, which raised $35,000, benefited the CBS Supported Employment
program as well as its social enterprise, Good Reasons Dog Treats, which employs people of all abilities. Golfers from local businesses and the surrounding communities enjoyed friendly competition on Westchester County’s most beautiful golf course, as well as gourmet food, raffle prizes, and a silent auction. Assemblymember Chris Burdick also came to support CBS’s mission to help people with disabilities find and maintain competitive employment. Chris expressed his gratitude for employment opportunities for people with disabilities this way:

"As a member of the NYS Assembly Committee for People with Disabilities and Chair of the Subcommittee for Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities, I'm so grateful to see all the impressive work that Community Based Services (CBS) is doing for people with disabilities, especially for those on the spectrum. Meaningful employment makes such a big difference and CBS is helping to change lives.”

One in four Americans has a disability and many face barriers to employment. CBS
recognizes the need for people to have a customized vocational plan for every person seeking employment. Through the Supported Employment program, CBS offers job skills training and job coaching support in a competitive employment environment. The CBS employment services team has provided reliable workers to Materion, Instacart, Acme, Flory’s, and CBS’s social enterprise, and innovative dog treat bakery, Good Reasons.

CEO Vicki Sylvester said, “Work gives people purpose and adds meaning to their lives. Our goal is to help as many people as possible find meaningful employment to live fulfilling lives.”

The event would not have been possible without the generous contributions made by Sun Chemical of Peekskill, NY, and KM Capital of Purchase, NY. Contributions and raffle donations
from local businesses, inns, and area golf courses made the golf outing a truly exciting experience for all who attended.

Job Developer Joe Conti, who organized the event, shared his thanks. “Thank you to
everyone who joined us on the course and at dinner for our first charity golf event 2022. A special thanks to our major sponsors, donors, players, and volunteers for all your support. Also, a special thanks to White Plains Linen for showcasing Jonathan Robinson, our success story, which we will continue to do at every event.”

The success story highlighted Jonathan Robinson, a worker provided by the Jobs Services team at CBS, who was named Employee of the Month at White Plains Linen. He attended the dinner with his family.
