Community Rallies Behind Orphaned Child

Member of the Hendrick Hudson community are rallying behind a local child who has sadly lost both of her parents in just six short years.

Young Ava was a first grade student at Furnace Woods Elementary School when her father William died unexpectedly in 2016 after a brief illness. Less than two years after his death, her mother Ann, a 1997 Hendrick Hudson High School graduate, was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Ann was a fierce fighter, and lived years longer than doctors told her she would, but she sadly passed away on February 27.

Family and friends have started a GoFundMe to help ensure Ava's needs are met going forward, and will help pay for things like therapy, tuition, and medical care. All funds raised will be placed in a trust for her benefit, and which will be overseen by her legal guardian until she is an adult. The fund is intended to help ensure Ava has the brightest possible future, despite such devastating losses. Members of the community are encouraged to donate and share the fundraiser- all support is greatly appreciated.
