Cortlandt Residents To Protest Planned Gas Station On Route 6
Neighbors don't want another gas station, specially not one at the congested and tricky intersection with the Bear Mountain Parkway.

CORTLANDT, NY — At least 20 residents who live near Bear Mountain State Parkway and Route 6 will be out in force Sunday starting at 9 a.m. when the Town of Cortlandt Planning Board conducts a site visit to a planned gas station that residents don't want in their neighborhood.
The address is 2051 /2053 East Main St, a few yards from the entry and exit to the busy Bear Mountain State Parkway.
The Planning Board is considering granting a special permit to build the gas station. Residents who are planning to protest say there are already too many stations along the Route 6 corridor. They believe that this station would make a bad situation worse with more traffic, an increased risk to public safety, detract from the natural beauty of the area and harm local air and water.
