Create animations for telling a story, playing an interactive game and video in a 10 Week Class for Teens

NECS is offering a 10 week computer programming class starting 1/27/14 at 5 pm.  By the end of the course students will learn how to write their own computer programs. Create animations for telling a story, playing an interactive game, a video to share on the web, and more. All that by using a programing language created specifically for children.

In Alice’s interactive interface, students drag and drop graphic tiles to create a program, where the instructions correspond to standard statements in a production oriented programming language, such as Java, C++, and C#. Students gain experience with all the programming constructs typically taught in an introductory programming course.

This course is an introduction to computer programming, using the Alice 3 programming environment and the Java programming language. Students will learn the fundamentals of object oriented programming. The focus is on developing high quality, working software that solves real problems. The course is designed for students with no previous programming experience.

Taught by Lucie Brodska

Lucie Brodska is a software developer and a homeschooling mom of two boys. She has taught cryptography and computer programing to homeschooled children. She would like to offer her knowledge to young children and teach them the basics of computer science. Lucie holds Master of Science in Computer Science.
