GoFundMe Page Set Up for Family of Woman Killed in Peekskill Fire
The Sullivan-Birmingham Relief Fund was created to help with funeral and recovery costs.
PEEKSKILL, NY — The stepdaughter of Elizabeth Birmingham, the 52-year-old Peekskill resident who died in an apartment fire, has set up an online fundraising page to help the family.
Birmingham's husband and her son Albert were able to escape, but the fire killed Birmingham and their pet cat and destroyed the property.
"In the early hours of Monday, January 23, 2017, tragedy struck my family," Shannon Sullivan wrote on GoFundMe on Thursday. "...At this time, my father and Albert are staying with a family member. Albert, 13 years old, is autistic and diabetic, requiring 24 hour care from visiting nurses. Being displaced has made it difficult for his nurses to get to him. Due to his special needs, stability is extremely important. He does not fully comprehend the situation, but it is clearly starting to affect him. He has lost his mother, his pet cat, his home, and all of his belongings."

Sullivan is trying to raise $10,000 to cover funeral expenses, housing for her father and stepbrother and transportation to medical appointments. And, if possible, she'd like to replace Albert's video games, as they were his primary outlet.
And she has a footnote on the GoFundMe page:

"If anyone knows of an affordable one or two bedroom apartment available in the Northern Westchester area, please message me. It needs to be located near a train line, so that Albert’s nurses can easily get to him."
