New Place for Tonight's Public Meeting on Indian Point

Cortlandt officials have moved the event since so many want to talk about what happens when the nuclear plants are closed.

CORTLANDT, NY — Officials in town will hold a public forum, which will be open to the public, to discuss the challenges now faced given the announcement of the Indian Point nuclear plants closing in 2020 and 2021, revealed on Jan. 9, 2017 by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Entergy, owners of the facility.

The location has been changed to the Morabito Community Center, 29 Westbrook Drive in Cortlandt Manor.

Officials are expecting a big crowd. The turnout was very large Wednesday for County Executive Rob Astorino's "Town Hall" in Cortlandt on the same issue.

Public officials that serve our community and all stakeholders receiving revenue from Entergy through a P.I.L.O.T. will be present, said Cortlandt Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi. Entergy is our largest taxpayer and the economics, as well as, the loss of jobs, the reclamation of the site, the continued storage of the spent fuel rods and therefore the safety and security of this facility once closed must be addressed by the State and by Entergy.

The time is still the same: 7 p.m., Jan. 26
