• Peekskill shows new support for Broad Howard affordable housing project (westfaironline.com) — Peekskill officials are backing state tax credit applications for the $50 million Broad and Howard Streets affordable housing project, which includes 57 income-restricted apartments, commercial space, parking and a sculpture garden. While local approvals still need renewal, the City Council, city manager and Industrial Development Agency have all issued nonbinding support letters to New York State to help secure crucial financing.
   

• Starbucks' 'widely recyclable' plastic cups end up in landfills, incinerators: nonprofit (nypost.com) — One tracked Starbucks cup in a recycling investigation ended up at a Peekskill waste facility that environmental advocates call Westchester's largest air polluter, and local activists plan to protest there Saturday. The report accuses Starbucks of misleading customers about how recyclable its plastic cups really are, and urges changes in both company practices and state packaging laws.
