Peekskill Man Who Killed, Robbed Victim Receives Prison Sentence
The victim's mother said in court that Michael Jenkins was "a danger to our society."
PEEKSKILL, NY — A Peekskill man who was convicted of killing and then robbing a Mohegan Lake man could be spending the rest of his life in prison.
Michael Jenkins, 22, of Peekskill, was sentenced Thursday to 25 years to life in state prison in the death and robbery of Emmanuel Jordan, Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced Wednesday.
He was found guilty by a jury Sept. 10 of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

Rocah said, shortly after 6 p.m. May 8, 2020, Jenkins met with Jordan, 27, of Mohegan Lake, on Paulding Street in Peekskill to buy narcotics.
During the transaction, Jenkins shot Jordan multiple times in the legs and chest, robbed him and fled the scene.

Around 3 a.m. May 9, 2020, Peekskill police found Jordan unresponsive inside his car. An investigation began and Jenkins was arrested later that day.
At the sentencing, Jordan's mother said that she was repulsed, enraged and will be forever hurt that Jenkins walked up to her son and shot him in cold blood.
"You have scarred me, my family, friends and a community where my son was born and raised," she said. "You are a disgrace and a danger to our society."
