UPDATE: Pomona Man Jumped from Bear Mountain Bridge, Police Say
Police said he went over the southern railing of the bridge span.

UPDATE—Monday, May 9, 2016, 12:45 p.m.: New York State Police said the person who jumped off the Bear Mountain Bridge Sunday was a 27-year-old Pomona man.
Police said their preliminary investigation indicates that the man stopped his vehicle in the driving lane around 6:24 p.m. and jumped over the southern railing of the bridge span.
The victim’s identification was tentatively make using evidence recovered from his vehicle.

Scuba resources and side-scan sonar are being utilized to locate the victim, state police said.
The investigation into the apparent suicide is ongoing.

State Police were assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department, New York State Park Police, Continental Village Fire Department and Fort Montgomery Fire Department.
