3 Displaced After House Fire In Plainview Tuesday Afternoon: FD

Fire marshals say there were approximately 75 firefighters on scene battling the fire.

PLAINVIEW, NY — Three residents were displaced after their house went up in flames Tuesday afternoon, fire marshals said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said the Plainview Fire Department received a call for a house fire at 3:07 p.m. on Tuesday.

The first FD units on scene observed a 2-story home on Sherman Ave. with a fire on the second floor that extended into the attic – a second alarm was transmitted, fire marshals said.

Fire marshals said three residents were displaced, and Red Cross was notified.

There were approximately 75 firefighters on scene, and all fire operations were under the command of Chief Cohen of the Plainview FD, fire marshals said.

The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes with mutual aid fire departments from Syosset, South Farmingdale, Jericho, Bethpage, Westbury, Melville, Farmingdale, and Hicksville, fire marshals said.

The fire is under investigation by the NCFM's Office and the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad, fire marshals said.
