Flooding caused a portion of the Northern State Parkway to close in both directions during Friday’s morning rush hour.

The road was closed near Exit 35–routes 106 and 107–in Hicksville for hours, but it re-opened around 9:45 a.m., according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

The Long Island Expressway was to the get-to-work route Friday for those diverted off the Northern State.

Heavy rain early Friday also caused issues on the Long Island Rail Road, where a high water condition east of Westbury station led to many delayed trains. As of 10 a.m., things seem to be back to normal for the LIRR, with just a handful of delayed trains on the tracks. Check the LIRR website for the latest information.
