Get Out-March 25-27

Weekend Planner

It’s the first full weekend of spring and Plainview and neighboring towns have a lot going on to help you get out.  You can see your high school band play with an upstate band for a good cause, or go over to the library and watch a one woman show. There’s a comedy night in Jericho or at the NYCB Theater in Westbury. If you like to try different beers, there’s a beer festival over at the Nassau Coliseum.

1.      Choir Performance

Why Go: Upstate meets Downstate in an event to benefit the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Amherst High School and Plainview-JFK High School perform separate and combined pieces.

 2.      Comedy Night

Why Go: Enjoy dinner and laughter with Jon Fisch, (10 top comics) Ophira Eisenberg, (10 top comics) Rich Francese (from Saturday Night Live and Last Comic Standing), reservations required.

3.      Good Lessons from Bad Women

Where/When: Plainview Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview, 516-938-0077, http://poblib.org., Saturday March 26 @ 8 p.m.

Why Go: One women show performed by Dorothy Leeds, who portrays seven different outspoken women. No tickets required, space on a first come, first seated basis.

 4.      Spring Craft Beer Festival

Where/When: Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1225 Hempstead Tpke, Uniondale, NY 800-745-3000, htt://nassaucoliseum.com, Saturday, March 26 2 12:3 p.m-4 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m.

Why Go: See more than 50 craft brewers from around the country who will be pouring samples of over 100 of their finest brews.

Pricing: $45 per session in advance, $55.00 at door, $12 for designated driver.

 5.      Lisa Lampanelli

Where/When: NYCB Theatre at Westbury, 960 Brush Hollow Rd., Westbury, 800-745-3000., http://livenation.com., Saturday March 26 @ 8 p.m.

Why Go: See actress and comedian Lisa Lampanelli referred to as the “ Loveable Queen of Mean” perform.
