Get Out Weekend Planner: April 15-17

Family events abound this weekend.

Whether it’s the American Airpower Museum or the Asian American Cultural Festival, this weekend offers a variety of venues to get out and enjoy yourself. There’s a car show on the beach, an event for singles and even an event for your pet dog.

 1.      American Airpower Museum

Where/When: 1230 New Highway, Republic Airport, East Farmingdale, NY 631-293-6398, http://americanairpowermuseum.com. Friday, Saturday & Sundays @ 10:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Why Go: See America’s WWII aviation brought to life with period fighters and bombers, vehicles and exhibits. During the summer season the museum has B-17’s and other WWII aircraft.

Pricing: $10 adults, $6.00 seniors and veterans, $5.00 for children.

 2.      Asian-American Cultural Festival of Long Island

Where/When: Farmingdale State College, Rt. 110, 2350 Broadhollow Rd., Farmindale, 631-754-6640, http://aacfli.org., Saturday April 16 @ noon -5 p.m. and 5:15-9:30 p.m.

Why Go: Festivities will start with a traditional Chinese Lion Dance and continue with  live entertainment and activities for adults and children which includes foods, customs, crafts and culture of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai heritage. At night there will be traditional dance and music with a networking reception.

Pricing: Free for day program, night program $25.00

 3.      Dog Days

Where/When:  Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd., Old Westbury NY, 516-333-0048, http://oldwestburygardens.org Saturday and Sunday April 16 & 17 @11 a.m.

Why Go: The Ladies Kennel Association of America will host games and contests for your four legged friends, which includes a dog-treat hunt. Leased dogs are also welcome to come to stroll the grounds.

Pricing: $10, $8 seniors, $5 ages 7-17

 4.      Spring is Sprung Car Show

Where/When:  Stehli Beach, Bayville Rd., Bayville, 516-882-5022, http://nyautofest.com., Sunday April 17 @ 8 a.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a day on the beach while taking in a car show, food, music and crafts as well.  Rain date April 24.

Pricing: $20 for car and passengers, free to look at cars.

 5.      7-in-Heaven Singles Spring Fling

Where/When: Marriott Residence Inn, 9 Gerhard Rd., Plainview,631-592-9804, http://7-in-heaven.com., Saturday April 16 @ 7:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m.

Why Go: Mingle with other singles ages 35 and up. Also includes a dance party and buffet. Reservations required.
