'It Was Our Honor:' Embassy Diner Steps Up To The Plate To Support Frontline Workers During Blizzard
Diner owner prepares and delivers a full breakfast spread to 80 healthcare workers.

BETHPAGE, NY — Amid the blizzard that covered Long Island, a Bethpage restaurant owner stepped up in a meaningful way to support local healthcare workers.
Early Monday, St. Joseph Hospital President Joseph Manopella reached out to his neighbor, Gus Tsiorvas, who owns the Embassy Diner, to place a breakfast order for 80 hospital employees – all of whom were reporting for duty during the storm. The Embassy Diner sits just across the street from the hospital.
Without missing a beat, Tsiorvas prepared and delivered a hot breakfast to the frontline workers, including pancakes, French toast, eggs, hash, sausage, bacon, and potatoes – and he refused to accept payment.
"When Joe Manopella called and said his team was working through the blizzard, there was no question," Tsiorvas said. "These doctors, nurses, and staff take care of all of us every single day, so this was just a small way for us to take care of them. It was our honor."
