Man Charged With Arson After Causing Fire in Westbury Home: Police
The fire occurred Monday morning, police said.

WESTBURY, NY— A Westbury man was charged with arson after police said he started a fire in his room Monday morning.
According to the Arson Bomb Squad, authorities responded to a 911 call for a fire at a Livingston Street home and spoke to two occupants outside the house who said Shahin Sedgh, 30, was still inside and could not evacuate.
Officers entered the home and were able to bring Sedgh to safety.

Following an investigation, Sedgh was arrested for causing the fire, which started in his room, police said.
The Westbury Fire Department responded to the incident and extinguished the fire with three fire trucks and 45 fire personnel. The Red Cross was also at the scene to provide assistance.

No injuries were reported.
Sedgh was charged with second degree arson and first degree reckless endangerment. He was arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
