• Manes Gives $8 Million to Transform Community Center (southshorepress.com) — Plainview's Mid-Island Y Jewish Community Center is being transformed by an $8 million gift from philanthropist Dr. Harvey Manes, who has long used the facility himself. The center, now renamed the Manes JCC, is already upgrading its parking lot, flooring and fitness spaces to better serve thousands of Nassau and Suffolk residents of all backgrounds.
