Plainview Hospital Nurse Stole Patient's Wallet: Police

The 39-year-old was found with drugs at the time of her arrest, police said.

PLAINVIEW, NY - A Plainview Hospital nurse arrested for stealing a patient's wallet was found with drugs on Friday morning, according to Nassau Police.

On Thursday morning, Renee Caporale, 39, of Oakdale, stole credit cards from a male patient’s wallet, which was in the closet of his hospital room located on 888 Old Country Road, police said.

She then used these cards to make several purchases, police said.

The man received fraud alerts from the credit card companies and Caporale was identified through video surveillance, police said.

She was arrested on Friday at Plainview Hospital.

At the time of her arrest, she was found to be in possession of cocaine, oxycodone and suboxone, police said.

Caporale is being charged with two counts of fourth degree grand larceny, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

She will be arraigned on Saturday.
