Plainview Mom And 2 Daughters Lose Everything in House Fire
The devastating fire comes just 2 months before the sisters' B'not Mitzvah.

PLAINVIEW, NY — A family of three lost everything in a house fire in Plainview on Saturday afternoon.
A close friend and organizer of the family's GoFundMe told Patch that Marisa and her two daughters lost everything, but thankfully, no one was home at the time of the fire. The daughters are in sixth and seventh grade and will be having a joint B'not Mitzvah.
The friend told Patch that Marisa was notified of the fire by a neighbor who FaceTimed her. For the moment, the family is staying with "amazing friends" due to the damage to their rental home.

The house fire occurred on Montclair Road on Feb. 7 at 4:32 p.m., fire marshals said. The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said the first fire department units on scene reported the fire on the second floor of the two-story Plainview home. The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes with approximately 50 firefighters on scene, fire marshals said.
The Plainview Fire Department was assisted by mutual aid fire departments from Syosset, Bethpage, Hicksville, Melville, and Jericho – all fire operations were under the command of Chief Cohen from the Plainview FD, fire marshals said. The fire is under investigation by the NCFM's office and the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad.

The GoFundMe was launched the day after the house fire, and has raised almost $34K from more than 400 donors. The organizers shared on the page:
"In a matter of minutes yesterday afternoon, a fire tore through our friend’s long-term rental home in Plainview, NY, leaving her and her two daughters with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Just like that, their home, their memories, and nearly all of their belongings were gone.
What makes this loss even more heartbreaking is that it comes only two months before the girls’ Bat Mitzvahs. Clothing, meaningful keepsakes, and months of planning were all lost in the fire. Instead of counting down to one of the most important moments of their young lives, they are now facing the overwhelming reality of starting over.
Our friend is a devoted mother who has always put her daughters first. Now, they need our help more than ever. As the family begins to navigate the difficult road ahead, donations will help support immediate needs and expenses and help restore a sense of stability during this deeply challenging time.
If you are able to give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page – your support, kindness, and generosity mean more than words can express."
