Plainview's Celebrity Hairstylist, Jon Megaris, Describes His Art
His salon in the Woodbury Plaza offers more than a haircut.
Did you know that a hairstyling genius with 50 years of experience is located right here in Plainview? Hairstylist Jon Megaris, who owns and operates a salon in the Woodbury Plaza, can take credit for styling the locks of actresses and models, including Lindsay Lohan and former Syosset resident Natalie Portman.
Megaris’ interest in beauty began in his hometown of Greece. He recognizes the importance of fashion to hairstyling and “designs hairstyles to go with an individual’s style.” He says, “Today, hair has a lot of texture, and that’s the same with clothes.”
When he moved to the United States, Megaris opened his first salon in the famous shopping district of Manhasset, located in the Miracle Mile, followed by a salon on 5th avenue in Manhattan and most recently, he opened his salon in Plainview. “I thought this was a wonderful area. There’s a lot of different classes of people here, so I built a beautiful salon,” says Megaris about his business in Plainview.

Megaris’ talented son, Tasso, has been working with his father at the Woodbury Plaza Salon for over 20 years, in addition to gifted hairstylists from Athens, Greece.

Megaris doesn’t cut hair for the masses, but chooses individual styles that would best suit the client. Megaris has very selective clients and enjoys serving those that care about themselves. Terry, a customer of 10 years, travels from Pennsylvania to Long Island to get a haircut from Jon Megaris.
“I drive 240 miles one way to get one of his amazing hairstyles," she says. "There really are no words to express the appreciation and gratitude for Jon’s devotion to his customers. Jon Megaris is an extraordinary human being and an awesome hair designer!”
