Woman, 18, Critically Injured in Sweet Hollow Road Crash

The crash occurred Sunday morning in Melville, police said.

An 18-year-old Huntington Station woman was left critically injured after her SUV struck a guardrail and overturned on Sweet Hollow Road in Melville Sunday morning, police said.

According to authorities, Alanna McCarthy was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV4 northbound on Sweet Hollow Road, south of Chichester Road, when she lost control of the vehicle at 1:20 a.m. Three other people were inside the SUV during the time of the crash, police said.

The Melville Fire Department ambulance transported McCarthy to Nassau County Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

The three other passengers received minor injuries. They were taken to Huntington Hospital in another Melville Fire Department ambulance and were treated and released.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
