Abinanti Announces $2+ Million in Grants for Local Health Providers

NYSDOH Awards Local Health Care agencies for Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program

TARRYTOWN- New York State Assemblyman Tom Abinanti (D-Greenburgh/Mt. Pleasant) today announced that the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) is awarding over $2 million to health care providers in the 92nd Assembly District.

“Our decision to provide funding in the budget for local health care providers is now even more crucial in light of the unrelenting attack on access to health care at the national level,” said the Westchester Assemblyman. “The Governor and the Health Commissioner should be commended for choosing these three providers, who provide top notch healthcare while reducing costs and improving outcomes.”

The Health Department will grant $376,826 to the Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD) to replace their eleven-year-old dental van which brings dental services directly to people with developmental disabilities. WIHD Executive Director, Susan Fox PhD noted that the new dental van will overcome many of the barriers preventing those with disabilities from access to dental care. The new van will allow WIHD to reach many more patients and better meet the complex dental needs of this population.
