Hauser and her parents came to the United States from Italy when she was a young girl. Hauser’s parents were both entrepreneurs and ran their own businesses, despite not speaking English. Her father was a mason and her mother was a seamstress. From a young age, Hauser’s parents relied on her to do both the communications and books for their companies, due to the language barrier. She can recall being in the second grade and balancing school with writing invoices for her parents. Hauser excelled in school but was not encouraged to pursue higher education. She persisted and was the first in her family to attend college. Both Fran’s younger brother and sister followed in her footsteps and attended Pace University. Hauser has a book due out in April, “The Myth of the Nice Girl.” She also recently began an e-newsletter. See Hauser’s full bio on her website.
