Briarcliff HS Recognized for Exemplary Sportsmanship
The district is one of three chosen for the honor.

New York State Public High School Athletic Association has named the one of districts in the state that exhibits exemplary sportsmanship practices.
The other honorees are the Middletown and Rochester City districts.
Athletic Director Chris Drospolous discussed the award at Monday's Board of Education meeting, shortly after he found out the good news.

He said the district focuses on the theme of "Be Loud, Be Proud, Be Positive," a slogan appearing on the athletics' website, as well as all of the programs at home games.
"Furthermore, we have pre-season parent meetings where we explain what we do with sportsmanship and we take a lot of pride in it," said Drosopolous.

The district will receive a banner to hang in the gymnasium and will be formally honored at a ceremony in Lake Placid this summer.
"It's just the culmination of our hard work," said Drosopolous. "That is winning a New York State Championship."
