Briarcliff Manor Police Blotter: Attempted Home Burglary; Missing Saddle

The following is from the police departments. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the  from Feb. 20 — 26, 2012.

Saturday, Feb. 25

4:38 p.m. — A Sleepy Hollow Road resident reported the home's mailbox had been damaged overnight.

2:52 p.m. — A Holly Place resident reported the home's mailbox had been smashed overnight.

Friday, Feb. 24

5:10 p.m. — A woman reported losing her wallet on North State Road Monday. She stated the wallet contained Department of Motor Vehicles paperwork. A report was filed.

Thursday, Feb. 23

6:25 p.m. — A Sleepy Hollow Road resident reported the home's mailbox had been damaged.

3:54 p.m. — Police received a report that plants at Law Memorial Park had been knocked over, as well as picked up and smashed to the ground. A report of the criminal mischief was filed.

3:21 p.m. — Police reported arrested two men for felony grand larceny and possession of stolen property at  on North State Road. Read the full story .

2:12 p.m. — A dispute was reported between a resident and a contractor. The contractor claimed a check he had received for performing services at a village residence was denied when he attempted to cash it at the bank. The resident stated the check had been cashed already and attempt had been made to cash it a second time. Police filed a report of the dispute.

2:01 p.m. — A resident reported she had shipped a saddle worth $3,500 to a Texas address. She stated the shipping company reported the package had been dropped off, but an unknown person had removed it. Police filed a report.

Tuesday, Feb. 21

2:32 p.m. — Police reported a two-car accident in the northbound lanes of Route 9A, near the Pleasantville Road bridge, that occurred while they were taking a report of another nearby accident. No injuries were reported.

Monday, Feb. 20

9:00 a.m. — Police reported performing a traffic stop after receiving a license plate reader alert on Route 9. The driver, a 49-year-old Ossining woman, was arrested and charged with driving a vehicle with a suspended registration. She was processed at headquarters and released with a return court date of February 29.

From the Mount Pleasant Police Department:

Friday, Feb. 24 — Police received a report of an attempted burglary at a Wappinger Trail address. A neighbor reportedly spotted the incident and saw two suspects flee the area in a dark-colored car. Police reported the car had a loud exhaust and was low to the ground.
