Con Ed: Cause of Saturday's Explosion Undetermined

The explosion and subsequent fire are still under investigation.

The that closed part of Manville Road for several hours on Saturday is still under investigation, according to Chris Olert, a Con Edison spokesman.

"We don't have a cause [yet]," Olert told Patch Monday afternoon.

While the brush fire that started after an explosion was heard around the neighborhood (according to Patch readers on Facebook), was put out within an hour by responders, but the road remained closed from about 5:45 to 10 p.m.

Olert confirmed no residents lost power as a result of the incident "because we have a redundant system."

He said Con Edison will have more information about the repairs and cause of the incident in the coming days.

"We obviously will be pushing to get it back up because the busiest season for us for electricity is coming up," he added. "That's the summertime."
