Man Injured in Attempted Pleasantville Armed Robbery

Police were called to the scene after a man demanded money while holding a gun at the Marble Avenue restaurant.

A man was taken to the Westchester Medical Center after struggling with a suspect who tried to rob at gunpoint, Pleasantville Chief of Police Richard Love said at the scene.

Love said the police department received a call reporting the alleged armed robbery at approximately 10:40 p.m. Sunday evening.

He said the restaurant had just closed for the night and the lights were turned off when a man entered through the back door, pointed a pistol at the owner and demanded money.

The suspect did not get any money before breaking through the restaurant's front door and fleeing the scene.

"The [black] male...broke through the front doors because they were broken, hopped into a car that was being operated by a male white—a dark-colored sedan—and fled southbound on Marble Avenue," he said.

Mount Pleasant Police also responded to the scene and left at approximately 11:30 p.m.

Love said there were two other witnesses who are being interviewed at the scene. A detective was also on scene taking photographs.

"There is a hotline out for the vehicle," said Love. "There's cameras in the area, so hopefully we are going to be able to get some more evidence."
