Pleasantville Police Blotter: Lost & Found Car; Several Mailboxes Damaged

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the  from June 18 — 24, 2012:

Sunday, June 24

12:46 p.m. — Police received a 911 call reporting a commercial burglary. Read about the incident .

8:49 a.m. — A Greenmeadow Road resident told police his mailbox had been damaged overnight. Police responded to the scene and reported several other mailboxes had been damaged on Hays Hill Road. Police canvassed the area and recovered mailboxes that had been moved and retired them to owners.

Friday, June 22

4:44 p.m. — A Chappaqua woman called police and reported a tree branch had fallen onto wires. Police responded to her location and reported no damage at the scene. The department notified Con Edison of the incident.

10:45 a.m. — A woman came into police headquarters and reported someone had used her Wells Fargo debit card to make two purchases in Chicago for $83.01 and $3.50. She canceled her credit card. Police advised her to call the Credit Bureau to put an identity theft alert on her personal information.

Thursday, June 21

9:17 p.m. — A resident called police and reported she and her husband had appeared in divorce court earlier in the day and he had called her multiple times afterward. She stated she had asked him not to call, but he stated he was unhappy with what happened in court. Police called the man, a Chappaqua resident, who said his wife was the one who was calling and faxing him and he did not want the police to call him again. Both parties were advised to seek temporary orders of protection in family court.

6:39 a.m. — A woman came into police headquarters and reported finding a broken cash register behind Iron Horse Grill. Police investigated the incident as a burglary and arrested four youths. Read more .

Wednesday, June 20

5:40 p.m. — A Pleasantville woman called police and reported she was conned out of $369 by a man who called and told her she won $960,000 from Publishers Clearing House. She said the caller asked her to wire the funds via Western Union. A second caller told her she also won a 2012 Mercedes and asked her to wire additional money to a man in Belpre, OH. She handed the two phone numbers over to police and notified the Publishers Clearing House's fraud department.

The following day, the woman reported receiving another call from the same man. She said she asked him for his Social Security number, which he did not provide. She also asked him to call the Pleasantville Police Department. He refused and said he would call back. Police advised the woman to tell the man the PD is investigating the case.

Monday, June 18

5:09 p.m. — A Pleasantville resident came into police headquarters and reported her vehicle had gone missing from the parking lot sometime after 2:30 p.m. Police confirmed her car had not been towed or repossessed. The woman called back at 5:47 p.m. to confirm she found her vehicle—she had parked in the parking lot at 175 Tompkins Ave., not the church lot.
