Police: Homeless Man Charged with Burglarizing School

An apparently homeless man has been charged with stealing from a school on Route 9, according to .

Steven Hollenberg, 50, was arrested on Sunday and charged with Burglary in the Third Degree and Resisting Arrest.

According to police reports, a maintenance worker at the on Albany Post Road reported coming across a homeless man at 4:55 p.m. on Saturday.

He said when he confronted the man in the school, the suspect fled school grounds into the nearby wooded area.

Police responded to the scene and were not able to immediately locate the man.

At 9:10 p.m. that night, police arrested Hollenberg on South Highland Avenue. He was arraigned in village court and remanded to Westchester County jail without bail.

Hollenberg has no known address and is believed to have taken food from the school.

Police reported he appeared in court again today and has since returned to jail. Court records do not indicate when he is scheduled to appear in Briarcliff Manor again.
