A New York State Trooper who was apparently driving his patrol car to a call was cut off by an SUV and careened into a tree and home in Hawthorne on Saturday evening, according to News Channel 12 Westchester.
The owner and lifelong resident of the home, Robert Sarlo, 87, was in the home located at 302 Bradhurst Ave. with his sister-in-law when the crash occurred. Sarlo told Channel 12 that he heard a loud noise but did not know the origin until he realized it came from outside.
A good samaritan helped pull the trooper from the vehicle, according to the report. The trooper apparently suffered back pain and was taken to a hospital, according to Channel 12.
