Private violin and viola lessons begin June 29th, offering an excellent opportunity for students of all ages and skill levels to grow musically. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced player, summer is the ideal time to strengthen your technique, build confidence, and prepare for the upcoming school year.
Lessons are available virtually via FaceTime or in a welcoming home studio located in Briarcliff Manor, NY—conveniently serving students from Pleasantville, Chappaqua, and surrounding communities. Instruction is offered year-round by appointment, with flexible session lengths of 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

Each lesson is thoughtfully tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of the student. Areas of focus may include technical development through scales, rhythmic studies, etudes, shifting, and exploration of standard repertoire. Students receive personalized guidance designed to foster both skill and musical expression.
Violinist Rachel Alexander brings extensive training and performance experience to her teaching. She is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College, where she studied with Laurie Smukler and Calvin Wiersma, and also worked with Ludmilla Stote. She holds a Master’s degree in Music Education (K–12) from Hunter College and participated in the prestigious Starling-DeLay Symposium on Violin Studies at The Juilliard School.

Rachel has performed throughout the Tri-State and Greater New York areas, appearing at venues such as Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, MoMA, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, the Pepsico Performing Arts Center, and Symphony Space. She is an active performer in Westchester County and a member of Taconic Opera.
As the founder of a private home studio in Briarcliff Manor, Rachel offers individualized violin and viola instruction as well as chamber music coaching. Her students actively participate in school music programs and youth orchestras, with some advancing to institutions such as the Manhattan School of Music Precollege and Ithaca College School of Music. She is also a certified NYSSMA string adjudicator, a strings substitute teacher at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, and provides violin sectionals for the Greater Westchester Youth Orchestra Association.
