Town of Ossining Police Blotter: Dog Dispute; Noisy Neighbor

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety in the Town of Ossining from Sept. 17 — 23, 2012.

Sunday, Sept. 23

12:30 p.m. — A resident of Duer Court reported to Westchester County Police that loud banging and other noise was coming from a house off Route 9A. An officer, who could hear the noise, responded to the home where work was being done. The homeowner agreed to curb the excessive noise.

Thursday, Sept. 20

5:12 p.m. — A woman who was walking her dog near in Cedar Lane Park reported to Westchester County Police that she observed a man lighting some papers on fire behind a Dumpster. Officers responded to the park and found scraps of burned paper. The caller provided a description of the man, but he could not be located in the park.   

Wednesday, Sept. 19

10:36 a.m. — A resident of Hillcrest Avenue came to the Ossining Command precinct to report that a neighbor has been allowing his dog to defecate on his lawn. The resident said he has been unable to resolve the matter on his own. He was advised to call police immediately the next time he sees the dog on his property.

Tuesday, Sept. 18

4:05 p.m. — Live utility wires came down during a storm and made contact with a car traveling northbound on Route 9A in the vicinity of Stormytown Road.  The driver was not injured. Westchester County Police, the Ossining Fire Department and Con Edison personnel responded to the scene.

Monday, Sept. 17

2:34 p.m. — Westchester County Police discovered a quantity of wood and cardboard items that were dumped alongside Route 9A near Shady Lane. The state Department of Transportation was contacted and asked to remove the items.

10:24 a.m. — Westchester County Police responded to a residence on Horseshoe Circle on a report that a person was choking. The situation had resolved itself when officers arrived. The resident declined any additional medical attention.

6:43 a.m. — A resident of Stonegate Road reported to Westchester County Police that a man wearing black clothing was standing in a wooded area behind her home. Officers canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the man. The resident was unsure if the man had been trying to look into her home.
