With the weather predicted to be in the low 80s this weekend, grab an iced coffee, hop in the car, and take yourself on a treasure hunt through nearby towns.

Garage and estate sales are one of life's informal pleasures. Each destination has its own unique offerings. Whether some are a hit or some are miss depends on your taste and what you're looking for—or open to, because sometimes you've just got to have that quirky bobblehead. At give-away prices price tags, why not?

You're also apt to run across a useful item, a great  LP, or a luxury such as an Oriental rug, at low prices.

As long as you're open to the happenstance of what you might find, there's no better answer to stress-free shopping. When my son was little, I bought  a big box of Legos, plus a bin of Thomas the Tank Engine track for a total of $20.

And who knows, maybe you'll find an end-of-season hammock to swing in until late September under your apple tree—if that's not on your wish list, it sure is on mine.

Here's a list of nine with a variety of merchandise. Of course, it's all an unknown—that's part of the fun. See you there!
