A New Kind of Caring, Sunday, April 12, 10:30am

Today’s text (Act’s 4:32-35) describes a particular church – the earliest church in Jerusalem following the resurrection and accession of Christ. Theirs isn’t necessarily a model for all subsequent Christians to follow, but in terms of time and geography, the Jerusalem Church was closest to our origins: a church of witnesses to the ministry of Christ and his resurrection.

So, we would do well to lean in and learn from this congregation. What can we learn? Three things actually: they were highly energized, provided for the needs of the community, and united.

Come and let us learn together from the first church about their energy, meeting the needs around them, and unity. Seeing a church like that today, even from the outside, could never be mistaken for an insular, institutionally focused, boring church. It would make evident the love and heart of God!
