Opportunity for Middle School Youth to Join Westchester County Junior Youth Council

The Westchester County Junior Youth Council of Family Services of Westchester is seeking new members ages 10-14.

Calling all Middle School Youth! The Westchester County Youth Council (of Family Services of Westchester, Inc.) is looking for new members ages 10-14. The WCYC is a countywide, youth-led, multi-issue advocacy program designed to empower and equip young people to create positive change in their communities. The Youth Councils create opportunities for youth to cultivate valuable leadership skills and exercise them through a wide variety of youth-led community service, advocacy, and activism initiatives. Recent Junior Council projects have included a planting a community garden; raising awareness about environmental issues, healthy relationships, and bullying; and participating in team building activities such as rock climbing and dance workshops. Junior Council members are able to increase knowledge, self-efficacy, and autonomy as they practice the creative and practical skills necessary to create change. For more information, contact Program Coordinator, Keri Fisher at KFisher@fsw.org or 914-872-5224.
