Port Chester Paid Firefighters Turn in Equipment
The personnel were laid-off when the village trustees made a budget cut.

PORT CHESTER, NY - Despite protests and appeals from the public, another chapter has been written in the saga of Port Chester and paid firefighters.
The recently laid-off personnel turned in their gear Tuesday, according to a report on News12.com.
Village trustees decided May 2 to remove the jobs from the budget. The jobs amounted to a $600,000 line item.

The Village of Rye Brook has an agreement with Port Chester where a paid firefighter is supposed to be station in the Rye Brook firehouse during the overnight hours. Rye Brook filed a lawsuit against Port Chester over the issue.
