PORT CHESTER, NY – The Westchester Alphas Foundation & Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. –Westchester Alumnae Chapter are hosting a movie screening for the film, Race. Race is biographical drama that presents Jesse Owens’ journey to become the greatest track and field athlete of all time. The story captures a very tense time during the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, Germany.

This is a great educational event for young men and young women for further understanding of the story of Jesse Owens. Our goal is always to highlight films that either feature and/or are made by African Americans. Screening the film in the first weekend will boost box office sales. It is during a film’s first weekend that decisions are made about how many screens will show the film and for how long the film will run. It is important to show Hollywood that despite our lack of representation in award shows, stories about Black people can and do have significance.

Let’s make this event a part of your Black History agenda. In the past Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Westchester Alumnae Chapter has screened films that include Ray, The Best Man Holiday, and Annie.
