Village Of Port Chester: STATE OF EMERGENCY ISSUED
DECLARATION OF LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY
October 25, 2021 - 5:57pm
The Village of Port Chester is bracing for impact from the October nor'easter that will bring heavy rain, coastal flooding, and strong winds from the southeast. Rain should begin about 8:00 PM this evening and continue through late Wednesday. As of this posting, the heavy rain may reach as much as 3 - 4 inches in total with roughly 1 inch falling per hour during its heaviest time. In anticipation of this storm, please refrain from parking in areas of the village that are known to be within our flood zone and are affected by rising or tidal waters, including Abendroth Avenue, the North Main Street/ South Main Street intersection, and the Summerfield Park/ 5 corners intersections. We recommend that retail, commercial, and residential properties tie down and secure patio furniture and other outdoor items, so they do not damage property or injure others during times of strong winds. In light of the above, a State of Emergency will be declared and effective starting at 8:00 PM this evening and continue through 5:00 PM Tuesday October 26, 2021. Any additional declarations and updates on this storm will be posted to the village’s website and social media platforms. Where possible, please stay home and avoid driving on roads. Less road congestions allows for first responders to navigate our roads more safely when responding to emergency. Thank you for your attention and cooperation,The Village of Port Chester
